Unable to sustain any offensive momentum from Tuesday, the Pirates fell flat against Reds starter Johnny Cueto in Wednesday's rubber game of a three-game set. Cueto extended his winning streak against the Pirates to seven straight by leading the Reds to a 9-4 win in front of 20,420 at PNC Park.

Center fielder Andrew McCutchen is back in the Pittsburgh Pirates’ lineup, a day after being struck in the neck by a 90-mph fastball thrown by the Reds’ Mike Leake. McCutchen has a bruised neck, but X-rays were negative. He did not sustain a concussion while being hit by Leake’s pitch during the second inning of the Pirates’ 7-6 victory over Cincinnati on Tuesday night.
