Through all the ups-and-downs the Pirates' offense endured last month, Neil Walker just kept on hitting. That made Walker's four-hit night on Tuesday that much more fitting of a way to end August, too.

Pirates’ McCutchen back in lineup

Center fielder Andrew McCutchen is back in the Pittsburgh Pirates’ lineup, a day after being struck in the neck by a 90-mph fastball thrown by the Reds’ Mike Leake. McCutchen has a bruised neck, but X-rays were negative. He did not sustain a concussion while being hit by Leake’s pitch during the second inning of the Pirates’ 7-6 victory over Cincinnati on Tuesday night.
