Mike Sandlock and Ralph Kiner were teammates on the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1953 and Tuesday, the former major leaguers had an opportunity to sit down, turn back the clock and reminisce about those special days on the diamond.

Pirates interview Eric Wedge, eyeing Juan Samuel

Eric Wedge is the first official candidate for the Pittsburgh Pirates’ vacant managerial position. The club announced Tuesday it interviewed Wedge, the former Cleveland Indians manager, in Pittsburgh. Wedge and Pirates general manager Neal Huntington worked together in Cleveland.

Pirates beat already eliminated Cardinals

A scoreboard on the fritz kept the St. Louis Cardinals from finding out the inevitable. They found out soon enough.

Maholm goes 7, Pirates beat Cardinals 5-2

The Pittsburgh Pirates wish they’d played and pitched this way all season. The St. Louis Cardinals wish they were pitching and playing now the way they did most of the season.
