DENVER (AP) Hit in the head by a line drive, Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Ross Ohlendorf considered himself fortunate. Ohlendorf left after being struck on the right side of the face by Troy Tulowitzkis line drive in the first inning Wednesday night.

Pittsburgh Pirates starter Ross Ohlendorf left the game in the first inning Wednesday night after being struck in the right side of his face by a line drive hit by Colorado’s Troy Tulowitzki. Ohlendorf gave up three hard-hit balls to start the game. Seth Smith led off with a single to right but was doubled off first when Jonathan Herrera lined out to second.
Not a lot else going on in the MLB world today.

At least the Pirates’ starter gave up fewer runs than the other guy. That was enough for an 11-9 victory over the Brewers last night. Brad Lincoln gave up seven runs in 2.1 innings

In a game that saw four lead changes in the first five innings, the Pirates took control in the fifth and halted their seven-game skid with a 12-6 win over the Astros on Saturday.
