Pirates come up short in seesaw battle

The Pirates were hoping for a sweep of Houston and a possible winning record at PNC Park, but that won't happen as the Astros took the first game of a three-game series, 10-7, on Friday night.

Karstens eager to pitch after side session

Right-hander Jeff Karstens, out with shoulder fatigue, threw a 20-pitch side session Wednesday, using his full repertoire. He followed that up with another side session Friday at PNC Park.

Bucs see streak end at five in loss to Cards
