After meeting his obligations with the media on Monday, new Pirates manager Clint Hurdle planned to sit back down with general manager Neal Huntington to continue piecing together a list of candidates for his 2011 coaching staff.

Pirates interview Eric Wedge, eyeing Juan Samuel

Eric Wedge is the first official candidate for the Pittsburgh Pirates’ vacant managerial position. The club announced Tuesday it interviewed Wedge, the former Cleveland Indians manager, in Pittsburgh. Wedge and Pirates general manager Neal Huntington worked together in Cleveland.
